【史比德及朗斯上】
史比德 朗斯，凭着我的良心起誓，欢迎你到米兰来！
朗斯 别胡乱起誓了，好孩子，没有人会欢迎我的。我一向的看法就是：一个人没有吊死，总还有命；要是酒账未付，老板娘没有笑逐颜开，也谈不到欢迎两个字。
史比德 来吧，你这疯子，我就请你上酒店去，那边你可以用五便士去买到五千个欢迎。可是我问你，你家主人跟朱利娅小姐是怎样分别的？
朗斯 呃，他们热烈地山盟海誓之后，就这样开玩笑似的分别了。
史比德 她将要嫁给他吗？
朗斯 不。
史比德 怎么？他将要娶她吗？
朗斯 也是个不。
史比德 咦，他们破裂了吗？
朗斯 不，他们两人都是完完整整的。
史比德 那么究竟是怎么一回事呀？

朗斯 你真是块木头，什么都不懂！连我的拄杖都懂。
史比德 懂你的话？

史比德 你的拄杖倒是动了。
朗斯 懂了，动了，完全是一回事。
SPEED But tell me true，will＇t be a match？
