Actually the task of translation is a kind of practical activity，that is，in a sense，a kind of skill．You can handle it throughout practice．Practice makes perfect．A language，everyone knows，is learned through both practice and skills．Both practice and skills are necessary．But practice is most important．Unlike children，adults in English learning will be much affected by instances of mother tongue inference．For them learning a foreign language actually is a conscious process of accumulating knowledge of a second language obtained in school settings．Most of English learners in China，however，after clear of school settings，suddenly lose their teachers，classrooms，language labs and so on．They hardly study it and quickly lose the practice of English learning．As a result，their English level gradually goes down．Translation is one of the five skills．It still needs more practicing．
The work of translation is just like a piece of music．If you are well acquainted with its rhythm and melody，you may give an instrumental performance perfectly and wonderfully，exactly and accurately．Also the work of translation is just like a piece of painting．If you are well acquainted with its skills and techniques，you can excellently convey the spirit and exquisitely portray the image of a figure．The more you practice，the more skills and techniques you have; the more skills you have，the better you can convey the formal and spiritual similarities of the original．Therefore，the beginner can gain complete mastery of the methods and experience that other scholars have already accumulated after practice，and make progress little by little．
