A person is not born a great translator．On the one hand，he or she has to practice constantly and learn by themselves．On the other hand，he or she needs consistently learning from others．Comparison is a very good way for a beginner to follow．Here are two aspects for us to pay attention to．The first aspect is that the beginner，by comparison，may compare and contrast between the source language and target language so carefully that he or she can find the shortcomings and flaws in their own translation versions．Our purpose is to improve the quality of our translation and raise our translation level．This way to success in translation also requires us to compare the original with a piece of good translation first and then find the way and style the translator uses．We should clearly find out why the good translator translates a word，a phrase，a sentence or a paragraph this way or that way．The purpose is to study and learn the excellent translator＇s word choices and construction of the translated text．
Firstly，when he or she compares their own translation，the beginner should pay attention to two points．One is to compare both languages that we have to deal with，and find the different writing styles and language features．The other is to compare the cultural factors appearing in the original with the version，and see whether the cultural factors are intended to be translated in the way we Chinese prefer reading，or the way English speaking people originally have．
Secondly when he or she compare the good translator＇s version，the beginner should understand how the translator organizes his version by means of comparing the original，and why the translator organizes and develops his translation in the same way or in the different way．
As far as comparison between the source language and the good version is concerned，it is not the only way to follow．Another way is worth mentioning to compare．That is，we can compare the original with more than two versions so that we can find different styles that different translators show in translation．
In short，nowadays some scholars and theorists are already aware of the importance of improving our translation level by means of comparison．Therefore you may intentionally pick up different versions of the original you are interested in if possible．
