Practical texts refer to texts which are used for practical purposes in people's daily life.They affect almost every aspect of people's everyday life such as politics,economy,science and technology,but excluding literature.The translation of practical texts is quite different from the translation of literary texts.There are three reasons for this difference: First,the language used in such practical texts often has its unique linguistic characteristics.Secondly,the translation of practical texts aims at practical purposes,such as the communication of scientific information or the promotion of a product.Thirdly,the translation of practical texts often targets at particular groups of readers,such as experts,businessmen or consumers.These three factors should be taken into account when we undertake practical translation.Generally speaking,the most typical varieties of practical texts are official documents,public signs,advertisements,trademarks,product manuals,etc.
