饼干

Toad baked some cookies.

"These cookies smell very good," said Toad.

He ate one.

"And they taste even better," he said.

Toad ran to Frog's house.

"Frog, Frog," cried Toad, 

''taste these cookies that I have made."

蟾蜍烤了一些饼干。

“这些饼干闻起来真香。”蟾蜍说。

他吃了一块，

“恩，吃起来更口。”他说。

蟾蜍跑到青蛙家，

“青蛙，青蛙，”他大声地叫，

“快来尝尝我做的饼干。”

Frog ate one of the cookies.

"These are the best cookies I have ever eaten!" said Frog.

Frog and Toad ate many cookies,

one after another.

"You know, Toad," said Frog,

with his mouth full,

"I think we should stop eating.

We will soon be sick."

青蛙吃了一块，说：

“我从来没有吃过这么好吃的饼干。”

青蛙和蟾蜍一块接一块地吃了好多饼干。

青蛙嘴里塞满了饼干，说：

“我说，蟾蜍，我们不能再吃了，

再吃会吃出病来的。”

"You are right," said Toad.

"Let us eat one last cookie, and then we will stop."

Frog and Toad ate one last cookie.

There were many cookies left in the bowl.

"Frog," said Toad,

"let us eat one very last cookie,

and then we will stop."

Frog and Toad ate one very last cookie.

“你说得对，”蟾蜍说，

“我们来吃最后的一块，就不再吃好啦。”

青蛙和蟾蜍吃了最后一块，

碗里还剩下很多饼干。

蟾蜍说：“青蛙，我们来吃真正最后的一块，

就不再多吃啦。”

青蛙和蟾蜍各自吃了真正最后的一块饼干。

"We must stop eating!" cried Toad as he ate another.

"Yes," said Frog, reaching for a cookie,

"we need will power."

"What is will power?" asked Toad.

"Will power is trying hard not to do something that you really want to do," said Frog.

"You mean like trying not to eat all of these cookies?" asked Toad.

"Right," said Frog.

“我们一定不要再吃了！”蟾蜍一面说，一面又吃了一块。

“对！”青蛙一面说，一面伸手又抓了一块。

“我们需要意志力。”

“什么是意志力？”蟾蜍问。

“意志力就是你忍着，不去做你很想做的那件事。” 青蛙说。

“是不是就像我们忍着，不去吃掉这里所有的饼干那样？”蟾蜍问。

“对了。” 青蛙说。

Frog put the cookies in a box.

"There," he said.

"Now we will not eat any more cookies."

"But we can open the box," said Toad.

"That is true," said Frog.

青蛙吧剩下的饼干放在一个盒子里。

“好了，”他说，

“这样一来，我们就不会再吃饼干了。”

“可是我们可以吧盒子打开啊。”蟾蜍说。

“说得也是。”青蛙说。

Frog tied some string around the box.

"There," he said.

"Now we will not eat any more cookies."

"But we can cut the string and open the box," said Toad.

"That is true," said Frog.

青蛙用细绳子把饼干盒子绑起来。

“好了，”他说，

“这样一来，我们就不会再吃饼干了。”

蟾蜍说：“可是我们可以把绳子剪断，把盒子打开啊。”

“说得也是。”青蛙说。

Frog got a ladder.

He put the box up on a high shelf.

"There," said Frog.

"Now we will not eat any more cookies."

"But we can climb the ladder and take the box down from the shelf and cut the string and open the box," said Toad.

"That is true," said Frog.

青蛙找来一架梯子，

他把饼干盒子放在高高的架子上。

“好了，”青蛙说，

“这样一来，我们就不会再吃饼干了。”

蟾蜍说：“可是我们可以爬上梯子，

把饼干盒子从架子上拿下来，

剪断绳子，打开盒子啊。”

“说得也是。”青蛙说。

Frog climbed the ladder and took the box down from the shelf.

He cut the string and opened the box.

Frog took the box outside.

He shouted in a loud voice,

"HEY BIRDS, HERE ARE COOKIES!"

Birds came from everywhere.

They picked up all the cookies in their beaks and flew away.

青蛙爬上梯子，从架子上把盒子拿下来，

剪短了绳子，打开了盒子。

青蛙吧这个盒子拿到屋外，

他大声地叫着：“嗨！鸟儿们，来吃饼干！”

鸟儿们从四面八方飞来。

他们把所有的饼干都叼走了。

"Now we have no more cookies to eat," said Toad sadly.

"Not even one."

"Yes," said Frog，

"But we have lots and lots of will power."

"You may keep it all, Frog," said Toad.

"I am going home now to bake a cake."

“这样一来，我们再也没有饼干吃了。”

蟾蜍难过地说，“一片都没有得吃了。”

“不错，”青蛙说，

“可是我们有很强的意志力啊。”

“青蛙，你留着你的意志力吧！”蟾蜍说，

“我这就回家去，烤它一个蛋糕来吃。”
